The aim and functions of the Media and Communication Department is to facilitate the media and publication work of the National Council of YMCAs of India and to produce literatures on YMCA mission and on subjects having a bearing on current socio-economic realities as reference point for YMCA intervention and activism. It is also tasked with the responsibility to liaison with like-minded volags, NGOs, church bodies and various agencies and departments of the Government and the bureaucracy. The department is also entrusted with acting as a Clearing House of all YMCA informations and to perform general publicity and external relations work of the National Council. The department holds seminars/conferences/workshops on issues and concerns of national importance which impact on YMCAs in general and the Christian community in particular.


Publications


Youth of India

‘Youth of India’ a quarterly publication of the National Council of YMCAs of India and is replete with news and information on YMCA activities, programmes and personalities, while carrying article and features on topical themes having a bearing on the YMCA mission and vision. The subscription rate for magazine is Rs. 60/- for four issues in a year.

 

 

Book of Rules of Games and Sports

The twenty-sixth edition of the Book of Rules of Games and Sports comes with up to date changes in the rules of games and sports.It contains the complete rules of games and sports.This book has been accepted as the most comprehensive publication of its kind and it is popularly known as the "Buck's Rules".This book is available in Hindi and English and the rate is Rs.300/- for Hindi edition and Rs. 250/- for English.

 

Action on the Wings of Faith

This, the most recent of YMCA publications is a compilation of editorials of the National General Secretary, Mr. T. Thomas, appearing in the ‘Youth of India’, in the last one decade. Mr. T. Thomas, in his inimitable way brings to his editorials vast knowledge as a YMCA professional and a gifted insight into the workings of the India YMCA Movement. Eminently readable, the editorials reveal a brilliant mind whose every waking moment is dedicated to the good of the Movement.

 

Human Rights: Ecumenical Perspectives and Approaches

This is a compilation of papers presented at a recent National Consultation on ‘Ecumenical Perspectives and Approaches to Human Rights’ held in Shimla involving prominent national ecumenical organizations. Noted sociologists, ecumenical thinkers, theologians, Human Rights activists and legal luminaries made lucid presentation at this seminal National Consultation organized by the National Council of YMCAs of India.

 

Revisiting the Mission of the YMCA

This is a compilation of the proceedings of the National Consultation in Salem on ‘Revisiting the Mission of the YMCA’. The publication is brought out to explore the Mission concept in the context of our Movement and to revisit the Foundational Statement of Paris 1855.

 

 

 

 

Towards a Communicating YMCA Movement’

This was the outcome of the first-ever National Consultation on 'Towards a Communicating YMCA Movement, held in September,2006.This publication underscores one significant point that,living in this age of 3G Telephony and Communication explosion,we seldom realize the fact that we are on the communication super-highway and are expected to be effective players in a global village.The publication focuses on communication from three perspectives-Economical,Sociological and Theological(Spiritual).
